My ancestry does not trace back to the Mayflower. I am the descendant of different immigrant ship passengers: Calabrese Italians and Russian Jews.  I was born near Independence Hall in Philadelphia – my parent’s first child and all grandparent’s first grandchild.

In January 1999, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).  The prognosis was a 50% chance of living five years.  I searched in vain to find one person who had survived CLL longer than ten years.

I took responsibility for my life and health, refused chemotherapy, and embraced a macrobiotic path toward recovery.  My choice was partially based upon two Hippocratic concepts: (1) First, do no harm and (2) Let food be thy medicine.  Three years later, my wonderful daughter was born.

The Cancer Indu$try, Big Pharma, The Monsanto Mafia, Corporate Food Tyrants, and Abettors are poisoning the planet, people, and food.  I have fought every step of the way for my own basic human rights and watched others suffer and die.  My primary goal is to be the person that I couldn’t find 14 years ago.
